John & Jeannie
Britter have now been self employed in the photographic industry
for more than 23 years,
John turned his passion for art and photographic images into reality
some 23 years ago when he opened a photographic studio. Here he
built up a business, providing industrial images for local and
international companies including Panasonic Mobile. At the same
time the studio built a reputation for social & domestic images
including portraiture, weddings etc.
Before the opening of the studio, Jeannie trained as a photographic
printer, and not only assisted with the studio work but was able
to provide hand printed photographs.
Between them, they
were able to provide a complete photographic and printing service,
not only to industry but also the public.
However, in the early 90's John was persuaded by a one of his
customers and good friend, to assist at a "small horse event
in Gloucestershire".
A pass was provided, which said Badminton and John thought he
was off to take pictures of people with rackets and shuttlecocks!
One day at an International Horse Trials, and our lives completely
changed!
Within three years we had a mobile photographic unit, with the
intention of taking our photographic knowledge to as many equestrian
events as possible.
Our dream was to photograph and sell our images at equestrian
events, and when
we started, we were producing prints on site with the "old
technology of film and chemicals" and we aimed to have our
photographs available to buy within half an hour. In those days,
the fastest photo processing on the High Street took an hour!
What we didn't appreciate
was our lack of knowledge, and lack of contacts in the equestrian
world.
Nevertheless, our
passion drove us on to learn more and more about horses, horse
owners, riders and anything equestrian. Horse colours, tack etc.
was learnt from books and talking to our customers and to many
people who showed faith in us. Particularly Dick & Phylidda
Cassan and their family, Jenny Dixey, Roger, Diana & Tim Hadaway
and Chris & Gill Cook to whom we are eternally grateful,
We now know about horses!
Fourteen years on, we have now moved a long way forward, and are
very proud to be official photographers at some of the most prestigious
equestrian events in the country.
We are now the official photographers at many of the major equestrian
events, including Badminton CCI**** International Horse Trials,
Bramham CCI*** International Horse Trials, Barbury Castle Three
Day Event, Chatsworth CIC,
Bramham CCI*** International Horse Trials, Pony Club Championships,
BE events, County Shows, and we are honoured to be invited to
unaffiliated events such as Milton Keynes Three Day Event which
is run twice a year and is the only event of its kind.
We are very proud of our achievements, and we now only employ
staff who are prepared to be trained to our high standards
Unfortunately, Amy Clark, who trained, and worked with us for
4 years has now moved to pastures new - to be a housewife and
mother to her animals.
However, last year we were fortunate enough to have been joined
by Gill Morrison, who has been training with us for the last 12
months, She now has a good understanding of the high quality we
offer, and has become a valuable member of our team.
